从功能翻译理论看政论文英译中的增词现象——以2011年《政府工作报告》为例

Amplification in the English Translation of Political Texts:A Functionalist Perspective

政府工作报告是一种特殊的文体,兼有口头语和书面语的双重特征。作为一种政论文体,《政府工作报告》的翻译需要一定的理论指导。以2011年中国《政府工作报告》为例,从词汇和句式的不同角度分析了报告的文体特征和语言特点,并运用功能翻译理论对其英译中的增词这一特殊现象进行了研究。

Government work report is a particular type of text with both oral and written linguistic characteristics.The annual government work report presents a most important source of information about China.Its translation is playing an increasingly important role in advertising China,directly affecting its international fame and status.This paper analyzes the amplification in the English translation of the 2011 Government Work Report from the perspective of functionalism with the analysis of its stylistic word and sentence features and puts forward some theoretical guidance in the translation of political texts.
