During her short life, Katherine Mansfield wrote a lot of children short stories which took New Zealand as the background, portraying many lively children images. Through these works, Mansfield expressed her strong attachment to her motherland and her family and especially her deep sorrow over the death of her younger brother. In the meanwhile, the portrait of these children image also reflects her desire for love, her pursuit of harmony within her body and mind and her desire for the harmonious interpersonal relationships.
