Common Problems and Treatment in Endurance Training

Endurance sports such as running, cycling and triathlon are performed by many people at recreational levels. At competition level, each of these sports requires extensive training. Most injuries in endurance athletes are the result of overuse. An imbalance caused by overly intensive training and inadequate recovery leads to a breakdown in tissue reparative mechanisms and eventually to overuse injuries. Endurance athletes also are susceptible to exercise associated medical conditions, including exercise - induced asthma, exerciseassociated collapse, and overtraining syndrome. These conditions are treatable or preventable with appropriate medical intervention.
