Love is a consistent theme in Toni Morrisen＇ s fiction, in which she emphasizes the significance of self- love and mutual love for African Americans. In her opinion, love should go beyond the selfish ＂I＂, the radical black nationalism and the boundary of cultures. She believes that love is the solution to racial, sexual and cultural conflicts. And with love, the barrier between sexes, races and cultures can be destroyed and harmonious relationship between sexes, races and individuals can be established, which is the author＇ s primary concern and ideal as well. Though Toni Morrison ＇ s view of love has some sort d Utopian color, it is of universal significance and revelation to us for it goes beyond the boundary d sex, race and culture.
