Extensive reading course is a very important basic compulsory course of English majors. Teachers have long been exploring how to make extensive reading course effective. This paper makes a preliminary exploration on how to improve students＇understanding and reading speed and finally foster their ability to read independently and effectively, in terms of the requirements of reading materi- als, educators and learners.
