World Digital Library： Multilingual Treasure of World History and Culture

世界数字图书馆（WDL）旨在以多语种形式在互联网上免费提供源于世界各地不同国家历史文化的重要原始资料，以供用户学习和研究。文章从资源组织、技术特征、服务特，占’等方面对世界数字图书馆作了概要的评述，并提出了WDL未来发展的评价和建议。

Intending to create an ＂environment＂ in which a ＂digital content on a global scale＂ becomes a reality, the World Digital Library （WDL） makes available primary soturce documents from around the world to users through various search means, to let users ＂discover, study, and enjoy cultural treasures from around the world on one site, in a variety of ways.＂ This paper provides an oveivicw of the major development of its digital collection, as well as its resources organization, technologies employed and services provided. Suggestions and comments for the improvements in the future are also presented.
