抗战胜利后,国共两党对东北的争夺在相当程度上决定了战后中国历史的走向。熊式辉作为东北行营主任,是国民党方面同中共争夺东北的具体操办者,在负责同中国共产党争夺东北的两年多时间内,消极被动,一筹莫展。他担当接收东北重任,却严重缺乏信心;紧急关头纠缠于人事安排,延误先机;外交接收消极被动,无法达成原定的接收目标;军事接收放弃努力,挂冠而去。这些因素在很大程度上加速了国民党在东北争夺中的失败。
