The novel Fight Club helps American contemporary writer Chuck Palahniuk gain public reputation. The protagonist in the novel suffers from schizophrenia, and the meaningless life adds to his masculinity crisis. His living condition is repre- sentative of modern men's general situation. The fighting scene in the novel is depicted as brutal and bloody. However, his experiences implicate, the popularity of the fight club has its underlying social causes. In this sense, the novel presents the masculinity crisis experienced by modern men in contemporary society, which also reflects Palahniuk' s humanistic care for the society.
