Analyses of Wei Yi-xin's Chinese Translation of Grimm's Fairy Tales

自1812年初版以来,《格林童话》不仅成为德国民间文学的瑰宝,更在全世界范围内流传广泛。早在1903年,中国就已经有汉译《格林童话》出现在周桂笙的《新庵谐译初编》里,但直到1934年,魏以新才首次推出了该书的全译。魏以新译《格林童话全集》是中国第一部格林童话汉语全译本。其译文白话文程度较高,更加符合新一代读者的阅读习惯,质量相对于以往译文来说也有所提高。

In 1903, the first Chinese translations of some Grimm＇s Fairy Tales appeared which were workedout by Zhou Guisheng. However, it is in 1934 that Wei Yi-xin first provided us the first complete Chinese translation of Grimm＇s Fairy Tales. This Chinese translation was written in the vernacular, so it accords better with the reading habits of readers of a new generation, and its quality has been improved to some extent compared with the previous translations.
