"Ciphers" Are in Writing History:The Documentary The 400 Million under The Historical View

记录中国抗战、让西方社会了解并声援中国是伊文思创作《四万万人民》的初衷。但本文基于历史观的视野,对比古今中外的影像记录,指出该片的传播价值更重要的在于校正历史观:提醒人们"小人物"也在书写历史,而这对影视创作、史学研究无疑都具有重要的意义。

To record the Chinese War of Resistance against Japan,acquire more understanding and win support from the West were the original intentions of Ivens in producing The 400 Million.However,on the basis of the conception of history,relating records of photograph of both ancient and modern times,and Chinese and foreign,this paper points out that the film＇s value in communication is more reflected in rectifying the conception of history： it reminds us that ＂ciphers＂ are also creating history,which undoubtedly has significances to both photograph creations and history studies.
