This paper expresses and discusses the meaning and the content of ＂Bel canto＂ in vocal music from various aspects,thinking that Bel canto should be translated as ＂Bel canto singing＂（美声歌唱）,which is general expression to various factors of professional artistic singing activities from 17th to 19th century.The author takes the tone and style characteristics and the external characteristics of the internal support technology of Bel canto singing as the main content of Bel canto singing,and also gives basic definition and concise exact expression to Bel canto singing.
