Through the analysis on the advantages and disadvantages of deep soil abutment and its major defects and causes,and combined with its key technique problem and design principle,the article proposes the common structure of using pier type as deep soil abut-ment for medium and small span bridge,and introduces the design and construction key point of this structure type.
