Saul Bellow was the winner of Nobel Literature Prize in 1976. The novel,Herzog, is one of his masterpieces. The novel tells us the great changes of a college teacher. Based on a small affair in Herzog＇ s childhood, which made a great influence to his later work,the paper focuses on the writing style of realism and the special writing techniques of letter in this novel, and clarifies the deep philosophical thinking of Bellow in the novel.
