Difficulties and Strategies in Listening to English News Broadcast

在大学英语教学中,新闻听力是一个难点。本文试图通过分析英语新闻报道的特点,包括文体、语言、语法等方面的特点,来寻找着手新闻听力的一些途径,并提出了一些有助于提高学生新闻听力理解能力的策略。

A common phenomenon among non-English major college students is, many of them feel nervous and frustrated while listening to English news broadcast. Obviously, understanding English news is not an easy task. This paper first discusses the main features of English news broadcast in terms of its writing style, its language and grammar use, etc., then puts forward some suggestions and strategies in coping with the listening difficulties.
