Holism on the Edge:Reconstructing Communities in the Era of Industrial Restructuring

在中国内陆的大城市,临近城市中心的老工业区重建问题为发展中的房地产业增加了社会和经济上的复杂性。2011年,四位哥伦比亚大学建筑规划及保护研究生学院的学生来到成都和西安,与来自西南交通大学和西安建筑科技大学的团队一同收集老工业区重建和城市再开发的资料,调研西安的土门地区和成都的跳蹬河地区,这些老工业区正在各方面挑战城市的聚合力。

In China＇s interior megacities,the problem of industrial restructuring in the factory areas adjacent to core urban zones is still adding layers of social and economic complexity to the constantly-expanding wave of real estate development. In the summer of 2011,four Columbia GSAPP students traveled to Chengdu and Xi＇an to gather documentation of industrial restructuring and urban redevelopment,the Tumen area of Xi＇an and the Tiaodenghe area of Chengdu,in collaboration with teams from Southwest Jiaotong University and the Xi＇an University of Architecture and Technology.The neighborhoods research are both in former industrial zones that challenge each city＇s urban cohesiveness, for very different reasons.
