图书馆学就是图书馆人在实践活动中借力于信息科学不断解决实际问题的理论积累,图书馆学首先是从一般信息科学中寻求理论支撑,若不能满足则从信息哲学中寻求其一般性阐释,只有当信息哲学也无能为力时,才会寻求元哲学的理论解读。哲学与图书馆实践活动没有直接的关系,它在指导、帮助图书馆学构建的过程中是以解决图书馆实践活动中的问题为宗旨的,并且以信息科学为中介。

Library science is the theory accumulation of the library person while solving the actual problem in practice, taking advantage of the strength in the information science. Library science first unceasingly seeks the theory support from the common information science. If cannot satisfy, it would seek its general explanation from the information philosophy. When information philosophy is also helpless, only then it would seek a theory explanation from the metaphilosophy. The philosophy has no direct relations with the library practice. It takes solving the library practice problems as the objective, during the process in instructing and helping the library science construction, and takes information science as the intermediary.
