转类法是现代英语中一种较为活跃的构词方法。词类转换有其深刻的动因,客观世界的统一性为转换提供了物质基础,人类范畴化的认知能力决定了词类转换的可能性和不平衡性。语言是人类认知的符号化表征,语言与认知不可分。

Word-class shift is a common phenomenon of English vocabulary.It is also a relatively active word-formation process in modern English.This paper analyzes this phenomenon from four levels： philosophy,semantics,prototype theory and metonymic model.The author thinks there is deep mechanism below word-class shift.The unity of objective world supplies material basis for the shift,the cognitive ability of human categorization determines the possibility and imbalance of shift.Language is the symbolic representation of human cognition.Language is inseparable from cognition.
