摘要
美国是一个基督教信仰浓厚的国家,美国新当选总统就职时,都要手抚《圣经》宣读誓言,然后发表就职演说。为了唤起民众接受并支持自己的施政纲领,就职总统大都在演说辞中浓墨宣扬基督教思想文化,引用《圣经》典故格言,效仿《圣经》文体风格,以使演说威严、庄重,更具感召力。
The Bible has played a very important role in the history of Western civilization, and Biblical＇ culture has widely infiltra ted into all fields of Western society, The United States is heavily populated by Christian believers. When the newly - elected president assumes office, he first takes the oath of office with his hand placed upon the Bible, then delivers the inaugural address. In order to arouse people to accept and support his executive programs, the president repeatedly preaches Christian doctrines, makes allusions to the Bible and copies biblical writing styles in his address so as to make it more commanding, authoritative and forceful.
