A Study on Tibet's Early Translation Practice and Theoretical Research

《语合二章》是西藏翻译史上的第一部翻译理论文献,也是最重要的一部。文章通过对《语合二章》中藏民族早期文字翻译作品问世时的历史背景和社会状况的介绍,简述藏民族早期文字翻译活动开展情况、翻译成果、形成的翻译理论,力图概括、梳理和总结西藏早期的翻译实践和翻译理论研究,并与西方古代翻译研究进行比较。

＂sgra-sbyor-bam-pognyis-ba＂ is the first and the most important translation theory, in the history of Tibetan translation. Through the theory the article introduces the historical background and social status of Tibet in the period of time when the first Tibetan translated works came out. Additionally, a description is made about the translation practice, the achievements, and the theoretical research of Tibetan translation in the early period of Tibet. The article ends with the comparison of the translation studies of Tibet with that of the ancient West.
