In the first half of the 20th century many scholars overcame numerous difficulties to do the field research in the minority regions. One of their important works is the Yao nationality study. They wrote a lot of fieldwork reports and collected related cultural relics. These efforts inspired scholars and public at that time to expand and deepen the study, so “Yao study ”has got its place in world academic circle. Understanding and inheriting works of that time has great significance in Yao nationality study.
