Hardy＇s novels are full of descriptions of the natural world of Wessex,which reflects Hardy＇s distinctive ecological consciousness.The ecological consciousness is mainly shown in two points.The first point is the overall expression of the ecological concept which is embodied on one hand in the construction of harmonious relationship between human and material equality,and on the other hand,in the spirituality description of the flora and fauna as well as their compatible relationships with human.The other point is the unity of man and nature,specificly expressed as the mutual relations of human mind and nature.Finally,the cultural significance of ecological view in Hardy＇s novels and his stand of civil value are explained.
