摘要
SLA researches show that interlanguage variation is caused by multiple factors. Following the multi-factor approach, the present research has investigated the effects of three specific factors on the acquisition and production of relative clauses by Chinese English Majors: types of the subordinate clauses (single or double/embedded), syntactic functions of the relative pronouns and the time pressure. Results show that the subjects' performances varied significantly when conditions changed, and it was found that the syntactic functions of the relative pronouns and the time pressure had great influence on such variation, but different types of the subordinate clauses had no influence at all. Besides, more detailed study found that another two factors might also have certain effects: (1) the existence of context of discourse; (2) different object functions of the relative pronouns. Findings of the present research could provide implications for the improvement of ways to evaluate the language proficiency of English learners.
第二语言习得研究表明,引起第二语言习得者中介语变异的因素众多而复杂。本研究采用多因素研究模式分析与研究了多种因素对中国英语专业学生习得和使用定语从句的影响,具体包括从句类型、关系代词在从句中的句法功能以及时间压力等。结果表明,受试者在定语从句产出过程中表现出了明显的系统变异。关系代词的句法功能和时间压力这两个因素对该变异的产生有极大的影响,从句类型则对受试者定语从句产出过程中的系统变异无显著影响。进一步的研究还发现,受试者呈现出的系统变异还可能与其他两个因素有关:(1)语篇语境存在与否;(2)关系代词的不同宾语功能。本研究所取得的实验结果对英语水平测试方式的改进有一定的启示。
