本文借助SECCL和COLSEC两个语料库,对中国学习者英语口语中使用习语的情况进行了研究。结果表明,英语专业学习者使用习语的情形与非英语专业学习者大致相同,他们能够使用大部分高频和中高频习语,但几乎不使用中频及以下的常用习语,因此,他们没有很好地掌握口语中常用的习语。本文最后对大纲修订和课堂教学提出了建议。
This paper investigates the use of idioms in Chinese EFL learners' spoken English by virtue of two corpora, SECCL and COLSEC. The results indicate that there is no difference in the use of idioms between English-major and non-English-major learners. The learners are competent at using most of the idioms of high and high-medium frequency. However, they use nearly none of the idioms of medium and below frequency. Based on the findings, we conclude that the learners do not have a good command of the most frequently used idioms in spoken English. Suggestions on syllabus designing and classroom teaching are brought about at the end of the paper.
