摘要
本文通过对比中国大学生和英语本族语者的英语作文语料,从定量和定性两个方面研究名物化特征。研究显示,中国学生的名物化总体使用不足,但以-ion结尾的名词存在过度使用的特点,与本族语者相比存在显著差异,名物化随英语水平的提高呈上升的总体趋势。一方面,存在我国学生能够在写作中恰当使用名物化为文章增色的样本,另一方面也存在使用名物化意识薄弱,导致文章组织松散、主观性强以及口语化的案例。本研究的结论对我国英语词汇教学和写作教学具有一定启示作用。
This paper studies the use of nominalizations in argumentative writings by Chinese EFL learners, with a comparison to native English corpus. The study has found that generally the use of nominalizations by Chinese EFL learners is less than English native speakers, but the difference is not statistically significant. As for different levels of Chinese EFL learners, the use of nominalizations increases from year 1 to year 4, which to some extent shows the development of students’ English level. The qualitative analysis has proved that some Chinese EFL learners can use the nominalization properly, but some do not realize the active functions of nominalizations. The findings of this study may contribute to English lexical and writing teaching in China.
