论社会变体与文学翻译——评《卖花女》的两个中译本

Social Register and Literary Translation: Comparative Studies of Two Chinese Versions of Pygmalion

社会语言学的核心研究课题之一是语言变异现象。语言变异有地域变体、性别变体、年龄变体和社会变体等,其中社会变体对故事情节和人物的塑造有重大作用。因此,文学翻译中应重视这种变异现象。本文就《卖花女》两个译本的对比研究,来探讨社会变体与文学翻译的关系。

Linguistic variation is one of the key topics in socio-linguistic studies. It may be categorized under four terms: regional register, gender register, age register and social register. And the last register plays an important role in organizing the theme and characterizing the heroes or heroines in literary works; hence it should not be neglected in translating literary works. Based on the comparative studies of two Chinese versions of Pygmalion the present paper tries to approach the relationship between social register and literature translation.
