Form and Function of the Ironic Cues

本文探讨了反讽暗示的作用及其表现形式,归纳并评述了前人有关反讽暗示的主要研究。文章指出反讽暗示在与其他语境因素的配合下,对反讽话语的理解起到了提示和促进的作用。文章还针对汉语言语反讽的特点提出了汉语特色的表现形式。

This paper, focused on the function and types of ironic cues, summarizes and discusses previous studies on ironic cues. It is pointed out that ironic cues do play an alerting and facilitating role in the comprehension of irony, if they are combined with other contextual sources manifesting thes peaker's ironic intent. Based on Chinese data, the paper also proposes some Chinese-specific ironic cues. The study of what constitute ironic cues can function as a guide for the empirical study on ironic utterances of a particular language data, and naturally the research result can pave way for the cross-cultural studies on ironic utterances.
