Interpreting the Graphological Metaphor in Cummings’Visual Poems

本研究主要包括三个部分:一是依据社会符号学理论提出语相隐喻这个新的概念;二是从认知语言学视角构建语相隐喻解读的策略;三是以卡明斯的两首诗歌"l(a)"和"r-p-o-p-h-e-s-s-a-g-r"为例,采用对比研究的方法解读卡明斯视觉诗的语相隐喻。其目的是探求从新的视角来解读卡明斯诗歌中的语相意义,帮助读者理解和欣赏卡明斯的视觉诗。

This paper, based on the theories and methods of Social Semiotics and Cognitive Linguistics, introduces a new concept of 'Graphological Metaphor' and constructs approaches to interpret it by analyzing Cummings’ two poems 'l(a)' and 'r-p-o-p-h-e-s-s-a-g-r'. Contrastive studies are used to find a new perspective to understand and appreciate the graphological meaning and aesthetic value of Cummings’ poems.
