美国对南非的核政策随其全球战略利益的调整而演变,同时又与其核不扩散政策的变动保持一致。二战后,美国为了与苏联进行全球对抗,积极地推行与南非的核合作政策。冷战缓和时期,美国迫于压力对南非核武器研究采取了适当的核制裁。随着冷战走向结束,美国采取对南非核制裁与帮助其改善周边紧张局势的政策,推动了南非终止核计划并最终销毁核武器。

American nuclear policy towards South Africa had changed with its strategic benefits in the world,and coincided with its nonproliferation.After the World II,America cooperated with South Africa in nuclear field,and tried to make it one of bridgehead to restrain the infiltration of commu-nism.With the ending of cold war,America enlarged the nuclear sanction towards South Africa,im-proved the appeasement of the tension of Southern Africa,and promoted South Africa to terminate all its nuclear programs.
