Beyond the Ivory Tower:MIT Open Course Ware Movement

21世纪初,MIT提出了开放课程网页的理念,并运用互联网平台迅速推出了第一批代表MIT水准的开放课程。此理念得到了全球很多知名高校的响应,目前包括哈佛、耶鲁等世界一流大学在内的200多所大学共推出了近万门开放课程。目前,MIT的OCW每月的访问量达100万人次,访问者主要是自学者、在校师生,OCW为教学、研究,分享一流教学资源提供了无可替代的作用。

In 1999, MIT faculty considered how to use the Internet in pursuit of MIT~ mission to ad- vance knowledge and educate students, and in 2000 proposed OCW. MIT published the first proof- of- concept site in 2002. The concept has been accepted by many universities, and now including Harvard, Yale and other 200 world - class universities. Currently, MIT＇s OCW monthly visits amounted to 100 million people, and visitors are mainly self- learners, teachers and students in school. OCW provides an irreplaceable role for teaching, research, sharing of best teaching resources.
