On February 7,Chinese peacekeepers receive UN peace medals in Wau,Sudan,from Ashraf Qazi,Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Sudan. The conferring ceremony was held to honor great contributions made by the Chinese peacekeeping troops in maintaining peace and stability in Sudan’s war-torn Darfur region. By honoring both security and logistics units,Qazi highly praised Chinese soldiers as true men of peace. As part of the UN Mission in Sudan,China joined the peacekeeping operation in 2006.
