2002年,"21世纪的语法"问世,即《剑桥英语语法》。尽管该书和夸克的语法著作有相似,但若把两书仔细比较,就会发现两者差异大于共性。前者更侧重于理论探索;后者更倾向于语法规则,两者各有利弊。尽管前者在某些方面不尽人意,但在其它方面比后者更加与时俱进,内容新颖。

In 2002,The Cambridge Grammar of the English Language was published,and it was named'The Grammar in the 21st Century'.More dissimilarities than similarities can be found in the Cambridge Grammar,compared with A Comprehensive Grammar of the English Language by Quirk,since the former is theory-oriented,but the latter fo- cuses on grammar principles,more advanced and updated.
