中西文化中颜色词语的文化内涵

世界各民族语言表达颜色的词语多寡不一,分类各异。汉英民族对基本颜色词的分类基本上是相同的,都采用七分法,即赤、橙、黄、绿、青、蓝、紫。要正确译出英汉语中大量与基本色彩有关的词语,关键是准确把握这些色彩词的文化内涵。本文通过对英汉基本色彩词的文化内涵比较,探讨了色彩词语翻译的一般规律并概括出四种基本译法。

There are different words to express colours in different languages.But in Chinese and English,basic colour classification is almost the same,and includes seven catego- ries,that is,red,orange,yellow,green,blue,indigo and violet.To successfully translate those expressions,including basic colour words from English to Chinese or vise versa, it is a key step to master the cultural connotations of the colour words.By comparing the differences of the corresponding colour words between English and Chinese,gen- eral rules of translating the colour words are probed into and consequently four basic practical translating methods are generalized.
