刘向是我国西汉时代著名的史学家、文学家和文献学家。他在汉成帝永始元年编撰的《列女传》,在史学、文学、编撰方面均具有开拓创新的贡献。《列女传》在一定程度上展现了中国古代妇女的社会生活状况,为我们研究古代妇女的社会地位、生活情状及其精神风貌提供了相关史料。
