摘要
木质素是植物体内仅次于纤维素的一种重要有机大分子物质,在植物体内具有多种生理功能。咖啡酸3-O-甲基转移酶(COMT)是木质素合成途径中的一个重要甲基转移酶。被子植物中,COMT被认为具有双重功能,催化咖啡酸形成阿魏酸和催化5-羟基阿魏酸形成芥子酸。裸子植物中COMT只能催化咖啡酸。近几年研究表明,COMT催化的反应除了在肉桂酸水平进行外,还可在醛和醇的水平上发生。本文阐述了COMT的研究历程,较系统地介绍了利用基因工程技术调控COMT的研究成果,并提出了一些未来研究方向。
Lignin is the second abundant natural products in plant with multiple physiological functions. Caffeic acid O-methyltransferase (COMT) is an important methyltransferase in lignin biosynthesis. In angiosperms, COMT of lignin biosynthesis originally was described as bifunctional, converting caffeic acid to ferulic acid and 5-hydroxyferulic acid to sinapic acid. In gymnosperm, COMT only has the first kind of function. The resent research indicated that COMT also could convert aldehyde and alcohol beside acid. This paper discussed the research history of COMT and systemically introduced some achievements on COMT regulated by gene engineering technology. Several further research trends were brought forward in the end of this paper.
