中美英语新闻报道中词汇衔接手段之异同

Similarities and Differences of Lexical Cohesion between Chinese and American English News Reports

作为语篇构建的重要手段之一,词汇衔接可以使语篇的语义有机地结合起来,形成语篇连贯的有形网络。本文通过分析新华社和美联社对相似主题所作的英语新闻报道,提取其中频繁出现的实词,并以这些实词为切入点比较中美英语新闻报道中词汇衔接手段之异同,探讨其对于表达语篇主题以及实现语篇连贯的作用。

lexical cohesion enables the meaning of a text to combine systematically,and form a tangible network of textual coherence.As a major type of cohesive devices,lexical cohesion provides the important theoretical basis for textual analysis.In this paper,through the analysis of the frequently used lexical items in the English news reports under the same topic by two famous new agencies-Xinhua News Agency and Associated Press,we compare the similarities and differences of lexical cohesive devices and discuss their functions of uncovering the deep textual meaning and achieving textual coherence.
