Putian, located on the eastern coast of Fujian Province, is the birthplace of Mazu, 'Goddess of Sea.' The Mazu Ancestral Temple at Meizhou Island is well-known and there are more than 200 million Mazu worshipers all over the world. Every year, on the anniversaries of her birth and death, there would be a grand gathering of pilgrims at the temple.However, Mazu worshipping is not the only attraction Putian has to offer: there are more than 250 scenic spots in the region.
