摘要
The increasing size of college English classes in China has created great difficulty for their teachers who have to deal with correcting the large amounts of composition work they generate. It is really not the amount of the work but how one does it that is at the root of the problem. This paper examines some problems related to traditional ways of responding to students' compositions by marking and correcting every mistake. It also provides a practical guide for treating compositions in large classes by introducing a few alternative techniques for dealing with sentence-, paragraph- and composition-level errors.
我国大学英语教学班级趋向大班化,使得教师很难去完成大量的作文批改工作。但是,问题不在于怎么去完成这些作文的批改,而在于教师怎样去有效地做这项工作。这篇文章剖析了传统的作文批改方法——标错、改错上存在的问题,介绍了如何从句子层面、段落层面或整篇作文层面上去引导学生自己改错的技巧,为处理大班作文批改工作提供了有益的指导。
