摘要
The existing textbook used in Intensive Reading class in English Department of Qingdao University of Science and Technology is not satisfactory according to an investigation made by the authors. The investigation shows: the texts are too easy, and monotonous both in content and style. Due to this, teachers also have the difficulty to teach this course in an interesting way. In this article, suggestions are made both on the change of textbook and teaching methods. Even the abolition of this course is considered, although there are difficulties. Intensive Reading should be a real effective and practical course in regard of the time spent and effort made by students.
笔者近期对青岛科技大学外国语学院英语专业精读课现用教材做一调查,结果表明教师和学生对此教材并不满意:课文内容和题材过于陈旧、单调,学生没有兴趣,教师在教授知识、调节课堂气氛方面也有压力。针对这种情况,笔者提出以下建议:修订教材、编纂新教材、采用原版教材、取消精读课,并对每一种方案的实施做了论述。作者认为:精读课应发挥出作为一门重要基础课的作用。
