二语水平与英语作文词汇:一份实证性研究报告(英文)

SECOND LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY AND VOCABULARY IN WRITING: A CASE STUDY IN SOUTH CHINA AGRICULTURAL UNVIERSITY

摘要 本文根据语料库语言学方法,利用笔者任教学校部分非英语专业研究生英语水平测试的成绩及他们的作文为数据资料,探讨中国英语学生英语水平与英语作文中词汇的关系。结果表明,英语水平测试成绩较高者英语作文的词数往往大于成绩较差者,而英语中最常用的15个高频动词在成绩较高者作文中出现的频率却低于成绩较差者。 This case study, which aims to examine Chinese EFL learners' productive vocabulary ability, investigated word count and the occurrences of high-frequency verbs, particularly top 15 high-frequency verbs in English in written English by Chinese EFL learners in the author's university. 40 non-English-majored graduate students, varying in major and performance in English learning, were sampled. A large amount of sample materials and data were obtained, and they were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively with respect to word count and word frequency according to the theories of linguistics and its branches such as psycholinguistics, and applied linguistics. In accordance with the characteristics or weakness of word selection of the sampled graduates, corresponding pedagogical suggestions were offered.
