In 1997, a record yield of 4.78 t/hm 2 for two-line hybrid rice Peiliangyou Teqing was set in its high-yielding seed production experiment under an area of 0.2 hm 2 at Mayang County, Hunan Province. The main technical experiences were: ① achieving a good synchronization of heading and flowering between the male and female parents by well-arranging their seeding interval; ②raising healthy tillered seedlings and increasing transplanted basic seedlings; ③establishing high-yielding population with many and large panicles to achieve sufficient spikelets for the female parent and heavy pollen load for the male parent; ④increasing outcrossing rate by spraying GA 3 in a high dosage and supplementarily pollinating with two bamboo rods; ⑤ adopting integrated pest management.
