1.SURVEY OF GLOBAL SEISMICITY IN 1999A total of 21 earthquakes with M_S≥7.0 occurred over the world in 1999 according to thedetermination by the Chinese Seismic Station Network(Table 1).The strongest one is theTurkey earthquake(M_s7.8,August 17).The second strongest earthquakes are Nantouearthquake of Taiwan,China(M_s7.6,September 16)and Mexico southern inshoreearthquake(M_s7.6,October 1)(Fig、1).
