元代没有《东京梦华录》、《武林旧事》之类的书，所以有关岁时风俗的记载就缺乏系统性。元曲对传统节日作的大量描写，将节日中那种种生动的、琐细的、古朴的，甚至是怪异的民俗事象活现出来，为我们存留了当代人生活的信息，传递了逝去的时代的回音。

There weren't any books like Recollections of Donajing or Reminisces of Wulin in Yuan Dynasty. So there was no systematicness about the records of the festival customs. There were so many descriptions about the traditional festivals in Yuan drama. The vivid, trifling, ancient even the uncanny folkways during the festivals unfolded before us in Yuan drama. It has kept the information of the people's life at that time, and also transmits the echo of the past times.
