During the period of his political exile in Xinjiang Region, Lin Zexu did a great deal of good deeds for the local people. He was concerned with the state political situation, enforced the northwest frontier defense, encouraged donations for reclaiming wasteland, built water conservancy, developed production, dealt with ethnic relationship, thus making a great contribution to the economic, cultural development in Xinjiang Region and the boundary defense.
