裴度与唐后期政治

Pei Du and the Politics in the Late Tang Dynasty

本文通过对史料的分析认为 :裴度仕途的沉浮与朋党无关 ,裴度既不是朋党中人 ,更不是李党中坚。他的入相不是勾结宦官而得 ,虽对宦官有所抑制 ,但未给予严厉打击。在平定藩镇过程中 ,裴度起作用最大的是淮西一役 ,余不足道。从裴度的仕途沉浮可以看出唐后期的政治趋向 ,虽有贤臣而不能用 。

Through the analysis of the historical data,the thesis holds that the rise and fall of Pei Du's official career had nothing to do with the political parties of the time,and that Pei Du was not inside any of the parties,neither was he the backbone of the Li-centred Party.Moreover,his appointment as the prime minister was not due to any collusion with the eunuch.Although Pei Du did restrain what the eunuch did,yet he never made any severe strike on them.During the suppression of Fan Zhen,the Huai Xi Campaign is rated as the only thing that demonstrated Pei Du's most important role,the others worth little.The political trend in the late Tang Dynasty can be detected from the rise and fall of his official career.The learned and judicious officials were left aside,and that alone would send the Dynasty to its doom.
