The derivatives of benzilic acid and fructose are significan in life sciences. Carbohydrate molecules represent aparticularly chalenging target for regioselective modifications due to their multi-ple hydroxyl groups. The 1-fructopyranosyl benzilate was synthesized by enzyme-catalyzed regioselec-tive eaterification of fructose and actived esters of diphenyl glycolic acid in anhydrous pyridine with porcinc pancrcatic lipase.
