1994年元月20日,中国西南首家从事交通基础设施建设的中外合作企业——四川成绵高速公路有限公司正式成立。
The 92.4 km Chengdu- Mianyang Expressway,an important section on the national highway between Beijing and Kunming, runs through the Chengdu Plains Economic Circle.Construction began in Oct.,1994,the expressway is another main artery of economy in Sichuan after Chengdu- Chongqing Expressway.It accommodates designed driving speed of 100 km/hr.,traffic capacity averaging over 25,000 vehicles per day and night calculated on a yearly basis.It is the first expressway that is built jointly with overseas partner in Sichuan and even in southwest China.Chengdu-Mianyang Expressway Co.Ltd..jointly established by between Sichuan Expressway Construction Development Corporation and New China- Hong Kong Group Co.Ltd..Hong Kong is responsible for the construction and management.Some sections were already open to traffic in July.,1997.The whole line,when completed,will greatly improve the conditions of communications from north to south in Sichuan and relieve the pressure on transport of Sichuan-Shaanxi highway.It will also play a very active role in promoting economic growth along the line.improving investment environment and expanding cultural undertaking and tourism industry in northwest Sichuan.
