This paper briefs the regulations of maritime pollution prevention made by International Maritime Organization (IMO), introduces the Conventions on IMO's maritime pollution prevention becoming effective at the beginning of the 21st century, and analyses the effect of the Conventions coming into force on shipbuilding industry at the beginning of the 21st century.
