The major sources—gasoline and coals for the lead pollution in the atmosphere showed marked differences in lead isotopic composition. The lead of the coals featured low μ values or low content of radiogenic 207Pb/204Pb and most of the lead in the gasoline showed high μ and ω values or righ content of radiogenic 207Pb/204Pb and 208Pb/204Pb.The characteristic Pb isotopic composition may serve as an indicator for the sources of the lead pollution in the atmosphere.
