The ionization of CO with metastable Ne( 3P 0,2) in a molecular beam was studied by measuring the emission spectra of CO +(A 2Π i -X 2Σ +). The nascent vibrational and rotational distributions of CO +(A) were calculated by spectral simulation and the results are discussed.
