摘要 Strengthening soft foundation by vacuum loading from lower position is a new method of accelerating the consolidation of dredger fill. This paper presents the mechanism of soft foundation strengthening by vacuum loading from lower position and evaluates the effectiveness of this method under various boundary conditions by means of finite element method (FEM) on the basis of Biot's consolidation theory.
